A recent conversation with a friend reminded me that sometimes we can be our own worst enemy.   Oh, how I know this reality all too painfully well.  I have been down a similar dark road of self-loathing, condemnation, and regret one too many times.

The flood of such memories reminds me of our great need to be confident in our place before God.

We beat ourselves up.  We give into words of condemnation, guilt and comparison.  We don’t show grace towards ourselves, therefore we don’t receive grace from God.  Such internal noise and thoughts wage war against the victory that Christ has given us.

As we surrender ourselves to the sacrificial work of Christ on the cross, we can rest internally knowing that His death made us clean.  His resurrection made us free.  His Spirit living inside of us empowers us to live in victory.

Wash me and I will be clean, whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7

May your mind and heart be washed today by the truth of God’s forgiveness, His good heart towards you, His power at work in you, and His desire to be with you.

He loves to make all things new.  He delights in you.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, (s)he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new had come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
