I have just returned from two days of doing ministry with a mentor at a beautifully passionate church in Ottawa.  It was an honor to see the body of Christ to our north so alive, so committed to seeing the world through the eyes of faith, through the conviction that Christ really is King, and that He already has the victory.

One of the things the host pastor said as he was opening the worship service was that we don’t have to ask for “more of God.”  Because the fullness of God is in Christ, and Christ is in us.  We already have all of God.  That hit me like a ton of bricks.  I was hit with a fresh desire to be more aware of the biblical reality of God inside of me.

Often I pray for “more of God” and that is noble.  But when the pastor said that we don’t need to pray for “more of God”, but rather awareness of all of God that we already have, I was moved with a deeper yes in my spirit.  The first is noble, but the second is biblical.

“In Him, we HAVE OBTAINED an inheritance…we have been sealed with the Holy Spirit who is the guarantee of our inheritance.” Ephesians 1:11,14.

We have the inheritance of being children of God, and co-heirs with Christ.  From now, through eternity. Romans 8:17  It is our daily reality as people who have given themselves to Christ.

We are invited to be aware of the fullness that lives in us.  To a reality check of who we are in Christ, a re-alignment of our identity in Him.

We are not beggars, hoping for a scrap to fall from His table.  We are seated at the right hand of God in Christ.  Above every power and principality.  Above all that is seen and unseen, we have authority with Christ.  We have been reconciled and made right with God.  We are hidden in the shadow of His wings.  We are beloved of God.

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together and made us sit in the heavenly places with Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 2:4-6

This is our present reality as Christ-followers.  We are royal heirs who have full access to the reality of the heavenly Father and His kingdom.  We are called His friends.  We are called to live aware of Him, and release the knowledge, power and grace of God wherever we go- because the King and His Kingdom are within us.

Praying for us all to walk in more awareness, to experience the reality of what it is to live as God’s own.  There is more… but it’s not far away.  It’s already ours in Christ.
